WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A woman working at loss prevention at Neiman Marcus store at Potomac Mills mall Sunday was sprayed in the face with pepper spray during a shoplifting incident.
The 54-year-old victim told police she saw another woman shoplifting and then confronted the suspect inside the store in an attempt to retrieve the stolen goods. The suspect then used pepper spray on the victim, causing the suspect to drop the goods on the floor. She picked them back up and make a break for the parking lot, police said.
Another employee, a 50-year-old man, chased the woman to the parking lot and he too was sprayed in the face with pepper spray after a physical altercation with the suspect, police said.
The suspect ran away but was later arrested by police. The stolen goods amounted to several hats valued at $700, police said.
Lakisha Tyra Watson, 33, of 3627 Valley Trail #12 in Windsor Mill, Md., is charged with two counts of malicious injury by caustic substance, and with robbery, police said. She was held without bond.
