FROM POLICE REPORTS:
Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling | Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On November 3rd at 5:13PM, police responded to the 3400 block of Howard St in Dumfries (22026) for a shots fired call. Caller advised that she was on the phone with a friend who resides in a residence in the above area.
While on the phone, the friend made several statements about suicide and then a gunshot was heard. The caller immediately notified police. Officers responded and set up a perimeter around the residence. Entry was made and the occupant, a 40 year old woman, was located and detained without further incident.
She was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. Multiple shots had been fired inside the residence, however no one was struck.
Charges are pending against the accused who remains hospitalized.
