Reckless Endangerment of a Child – On September 11th at 1:59PM, police responded to the 14900 block of Abilene Way in Woodbridge (22193) for a joint investigation with Child Protective Services based on information that a large number of children were being watched at a residence with limited supervision.
Detectives from the Physical Abuse Unit and Child Protective Services discovered 21 children, from 3 months to 4 years old, inside the residence. The accused, A. QAYYUM, was running an unlicensed daycare out of the residence. There were only 2 adults caring for the children.
The second accused person, R. QAYYUM, is a relative of A. QAYYUM and was assisting with the children. Seven of the children inside the residence that were less than a year old and were found to be strapped into car seats throughout the residence, including a bathroom and closet. All of the children were uninjured, however, most were not adequately supervised.
A search warrant was executed at the residence. The children were released to their respective parents or guardians. Both accused were charged with 7 offenses each. The investigation continues.
