Call for help issued for Christmas house
Members of the Dale City community are banding together to help the Bett’s who own a house on Dale Boulevard, a home once famous for its holiday lights displays, after the homeowners said a man was squatting in the house and damaged portions of the home’s interior and exterior.
Those interested in volunteering to help repair the house should email [email protected] for more information.

Occoquan restaurants plan discounts on race day
There’s a little something extra for those who participate in this year’s 5K/run walk in Historic Occoquan: discounts at two restaurants in the town.
The Blue Arbor Café and Garden Kitchen will offer 10 percent off for race participants who show their race bib or t-shirt on the day of the race, Sunday, June 10, according to an email from Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta.
Other businesses in town will also offer discounts on the run/walk day. Registration for the run/walk is still open.
Slugs, drivers asked to participate in survey
On behalf of the US Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, NuStats Research and Consulting will be conducting focus group sessions about Slugging. You are invited to participate! You can expect the discussion to be lively and interesting. Additionally,those who participate, will receive $75 for their time. Light snacks and refreshments will also be served.
The results of the research will inform efforts to improve the slugging experience among system users here in the Washington DC region; the findings will also benefit other regions of the country with similar interests. Similar sessions will also be held in two other locations (Houston and San Francisco) where similar ridesharing systems are currently active.
