If you have outdoor potted plants or other vegetation, watch out: It’s going to get cold.
A freeze watch is in place tonight through Tuesday morning as temperatures are expected to drop into the low 30s. The watch comes after an extended period of unseasonably warm days with temperatures hitting in the 60s, 70s, even 80 degree marks.
With the chance of frost comes the likelihood that the colorful blooms that have already spring could be damaged by the cold temperatures that drop below freezing, according to the National Weather Service.
Plant experts say the best way to protect plants from frost is to water and then cover the plant with burlap or a cardboard carton, or simply bring the plant inside.
Tuesday’s temperatures will climb out of the 30s and into the 50s, and warmer weather will return Wednesday with highs in the 70s and a chance for afternoon showers or thunderstorm, according to the weather service.
