Snowflakes Fall in Stafford, Woodbridge

A winter weather advisory is up for Spotsylvania County and areas just to the south of the Potomac Communities, but snow has already made an appearance today.

Flakes were flying at 9 a.m. in portions of the Potomac Communities in Stafford and Woodbridge as a weather system moving east was forecast to bring less than an inch of accumulation to the area. In North Stafford, the snowflakes were enough to coat the leaves of trees as outside temperatures hovered just below 30 degrees.

Much of the falling snow is expected to mix with rain by 1 p.m. which will lessen the amount what little snow is expected to accumulate, according to the National Weather Service.

The snow is forecast to move out of the area by tonight and the sun is expected to make a return on Tuesday.
