Crime Watch: Woman Charged After Car Stolen

Lake Ridge, Va. — Police in Lake Ridge arrested one woman suspected to have been inside a stolen car that eluded police Monday, but they’re still looking for the driver.

An officer tried to stop a stolen 2002 Corolla in the area of Old Bridge Road and Westridge Drive at 2:20 p.m. But the driver of the car ignored police and speed off down Manchester Way, police said.

A woman bailed out of the car while it was in the area of Manchester and Devonwood ways, said police. She was later found and detained. The driver continued on behind the wheel until he reached the area of Hampstead Lane, where he, too, bailed out of the car.

Police canvassed the area but were unable to find him, said Prince William police. The search prompted two elementary schools in the area to enter secure-the-building mode, but no one was injured, said Prince William schools spokeswoman Irene Cromer.

Jade Arialle Murrary-White, 19, of N. 35th Street in Richmond, is charged with possession of stolen property and was held on $5,000 bond, said police.

The driver is described as black, between 20 and 25-years-old, with shoulder-length deadlocks, last seen wearing jeans and a black t-shirt.
