Woodbridge, Va. — Leesylvania State Park will feature the Manassas Chanticleers singing holiday favorites popular during the 1860s.
Singers will be at the park’s visitor center in Woodbridge from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 and Sunday, Dec. 18, with performances at 11 a.m., noon, and 1:15 p.m.
The Chanticleers will sing carols that were popular during the Civil War, and they include “Deck the Halls,” “Silent Night,” “Away in a Manger,” and “Oh Come all ye Faithful.”
Wander through the Visitor Center and meet the park’s very own Civil War Santa in his handmade, festive suit inspired by the drawings of Thomas Nast. See how Americans decorated their homes for Christmas during the Civil War and make your own Victorian ornaments. Enjoy period music, costumed interpreters, and light refreshments. Don’t forget to bring a camera for pictures with Santa.
