Dale City, Va. — Children took to a fresh sheet of ice Saturday as the Prince William Ice Center welcomed their hockey teams back home.
With a certificate of occupancy fresh off the presses, hockey fanatics and new players alike broke in the new sheet of ice on the “NHL” side.
The second “Olympic” side will open this week and public skating will begin in two weeks, according to rink management.
Despite construction going on around them, players were at the rink as early as 7 a.m.
The Prince William Ice Center comes after the roof of the previous in the same spot on Dale Boulevard, the Prince William Ice Forum, collapsed during a major snowstorm in 2010.
