Stafford, Va. — A retired Prince William County cop wants to be the next Stafford County Sheriff.
Charles Feldbush is from Woodbridge and lives in Stafford County, and he says he’ll bring a fresh perspective to the highest law enforcement office in Stafford.
“I didn’t grow up with any of the well known families that are prominent in Stafford County and I didn’t grow up with the boys that grew up on the streets of Stafford. I guess the bottom line here is that I am no means one of the good ole boys,” said Feldbush in a press release.
Feldbush takes issue with the current budget at the sheriff’s office, training deputies receive and a growing crime rate in the county.
“They say we have a major gang problem here, but I’ve worked gangs for many years and I don’t see what they are talking about,” said Feldbush.
His opponent, Stafford Sheriff Charles Jett, has taken a business as usual approach to his reelection campaign, choosing to make no big special announcement. He’s held the job since 2000.
Since taking office, he’s worked to increase funding for gang task forces and implemented new county-wide emergency communications system.
