North Stafford, Va. — One person was treated for smoke inhalation Monday after a fire broke out in at their home.
Fire and rescue crews from the Potomac Hills and Aquia fire stations were called to a fire at 154 Olympic Drive at 2:45 a.m. Monday, just off U.S. 1 in North Stafford.
Crews arrived to find smoke filling the two-story house, and then found a fire on an outside deck that had extended to the exterior of the second floor of the house, said Stafford fire and rescue spokesman Mark Doyle.
After confirming all occupants were out of the house, crews pulled in hoselines and were able to douse the blaze in five minutes, said Doyle.
One occupant of the house was taken to a local hospital and treated for smoke inhalation. The Red Cross is assisting the occupants of the house.
The fire caused damage to the exterior siding of the home, estimated at $25,000, said Doyle.
Officials ruled the fire accidental.
