Frederick Challenges Puller

Jeff Frederick and supports watch elections returns for the 2011 Republican Primary on Tuesday. Frederick beat his opponent, Tito Munoz, by a large margin.

Dumfries, Va. — Jeff Frederick was one of the winners in the Republican Primary Election on Tuesday, beating his opponent Tito Munoz.

Frederick celebrated his win and eventual Republican nomination to run for the 36th District Virginia Senate seat in November. He will face Democratic incumbent Toddy Puller who was first served in the in the Virginia House of Delegates in 1992 and later to the Virginia later in the Virginia Senate since 2000.

“We still have a very big fight ahead. Toddy Puller is not going to be a cakewalk. This is a tough district, we can’t let our guard down. We must continue to fight. We’ve got 200,000 citizens in this district who are struggling, who are working hard every day and are not getting what they need out of state government, not getting what they need out of the economy, they’re not finding the jobs they need, they’re not getting what they need out of the transportation solutions,” said Frederick.

Frederick’s beat his opponent in Tuesday’s Primary with 68 percent of the vote.

Munoz, who lives in Woodbridge and owns his own construction company, says he’ll stay involved in the political process and help those who have become disenfranchised to get involved.

“I’ll be back. One of the things that I have learned is that some people have connections and some people have money, and sometimes those connections with money are as important as other things. I am running against an ex party chairman who has a lot of connections with people with money, but it doesn’t affect me because I believe in the American people,” said Munoz.

Virginia’s 36th Senate District spans from Mount Vernon to Stafford County.
