Dale City, Va. — A lightning strike sparked a blaze on the roof of a house in Dale City early Friday.
Fire and rescue crews were called about 2:30 a.m. to the 14700 block of Dodson Drive for a fire on the roof of the home, initial reports indicate. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze and there have been no reports of anyone injured.
The cause of the fire was confirmed this morning by Prince William fire and rescue Battalion Chief Joseph Robertson.
The fire sparked during severe thunderstorm that blew into the Potomac Communities just after midnight. It brought severe lightning, high winds, hail and heavy downpours.
