Lorton, Va. — If you’re traveling south on Interstate 95 next week, get ready for some overnight lane closures.
Construction crews will close three lanes of I-95 south between mileposts 163 and 161 leaving just one lane for drivers to use.
The closures will take place Monday through Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night, according to a press release from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The closures will continue during the same times the following week on Aug. 15 – 18, and Aug. 22 – 25.
The High Occupancy Vehicle lanes will be open for all drivers headed south, from 6 p.m. to midnight.
VDOT says crews will be completing pavement grouting work.
The closures come after VDOT announced last month it was substantially finished with the I-95 4th lane widening project, which saw the addition of a new lane to both the north and southbound sides of the highway between the Occoquan River and Fairfax County Parkway.
As part of the project, the Purple Heart Bridge over the Occoquan River was also widened, making the highway 10-lanes wide between Woodbridge and the Capital Beltway.
