With school out for summer, let the PotomacLocal.com community calendar be your resource for fun-filled days!Â
This Saturday, why not make a day of it in historic Occoquan? The farmer's market begins at 8 a.m. and runs through noon, and at 9 a.m. the Fifth Annual Duck Splash Begins. Local merchants are selling tickets for ducks which will be floated down the river.
The proceeds benefit Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition, and the top ten ducks will earn their "owners" cash prizes.Â
Occoquan's shops and restaurants will be open the remainder of the day, and at 7:30 p.m. you can swing into town hall for "Pecha Kucha" night where local experts will cover topics in exactly six minutes and 40 seconds.
Sunday is Father's Day, and in honor of the special occasion you can meet the father of our country, George Washington, at Mount Vernon from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Washington will also be available for pictures. Â
It's also a special Father's Day Weekend at the Fairfax Station Railroad Museum, and if dad prefers automobiles to trains, there's an antique car show in Chantilly, as well.Â
Also this weekend, it’s your last weekend to enjoy free parking at all Virginia State Parks, including Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge.
Check out the Potomac Communities Calendar for details on these and more events to keep your first weekend of summer vacation fun and fabulous.
