Weekend Calendar Highlights

A free community resource, the PotomacLocal.com’s calendar at is packed with great ideas to keep you and your family busy all week long.

This weekend, you have several options to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a little early.  Be sure to catch the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Manassas, which starts at Quarry Road and Prescott Avenue at 11am on Saturday morning.

Also on Saturday, author Jamey Long, recently featured on Potomac Local, will be hosting a Kidgits Book Blast at Potomac Mills mall on Saturday from 1-3pm.  The event is free for Kidgits members, and a book drive will be conducted to benefit Action in the Community Though Service (ACTS).

In Fredericksburg, Mary Washington University is hosting a free concert featuring their Philharmonic Orchestra.

Sunday, there are also several musical options, including the Jane Franklin Dance Company at Chinn Library in Woodbridge.  If you’re one of our readers in Fairfax, check out the Fairfax County Park Authority’s Fitness and Nutrition Event from 9 a.m. until noon.
