Update 1:15 p.m.
Two adults were treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns today after a fire broke out at their home in south Stafford County.

Fire and rescue crews were called to 40 Little Whim Road about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

When they arrived, they saw fire on the first floor of the single-family home and then began battling the blaze, said Stafford County Department of Fire and Rescue spokesman Mark Doyle.

Crews also made sure the occupants of the home – the two adults– had made it out safely.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes but not before Stafford fire crews called for assistance from Prince William County, which lent them an engine to temporarily replace others that had been called to the fire.

Both occupants of the home were treated on the scene, and then taken to a local hospital with minor burns, said Doyle.

No one else was injured in the fire and officials say the cause is still under investigation.
