Charity Requests Land to Build Family a New Home

North Stafford, Va. –– Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity hopes Stafford County officials will donate land to build a family a home.

The charity is looking at two parcels in the Lake Arrowhead neighborhood, off Arrowhead Drive and Garrisonville Road (Va. 610), to build at least one home that will house a family that organization officials in a letter to the Stafford County Board of Supervisors stated “would like to stay in the county.”

In 2006, the County Board accepted two parcels of land in the neighborhood as a gift, according to county documents.

In January, Habitat for Humanity propositioned the board to consider donating the land for the construction of up to two homes, one a three-bedroom home and the other a four-bedroom home.

The Board is scheduled to take up the issue today during their weekly meeting.

The Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity is a Christian-based organization which builds homes for families in need in Stafford, Spotsylvania and King George counties and Fredericksburg.

The organization attracts volunteers from various walks of life, from school children, housewives and blue and white-collar workers, according to the agency’s website.
