Woodbridge Supervisor Frank J. Principi this week said the role of the Prince William County Police Department has changed from being able to help prevent crime to now only to respond to it.
In a statement, the Democrat said budget cuts have forced officers at the agency to carry larger caseloads and to patrol a wider area without additional pay.
On a lighter note, Principi said home values in the area have increased by 12.5 percent, revenue from sales taxes is up from $3.75 million to $4 million, and added the number of foreclosures in the Woodbridge area are down from 1,144 in 2008 to just 267 last year.
