Woman twice defrauds Medicaid

Woodbridge, Va. –– A woman who pleaded guilty earlier this year for defrauding Medicaid for second time was sentenced today.

Annette Fleming – McClatchey, 49, was ordered today to pay nearly $775,000 in restitution to Medicaid, and was sentenced to 60 months in prison.

The sentence is in addition to the first time she plead guilty in 2008, when she was ordered to repay $3.7 million to Virginia’s Medicaid fund.

Fleming – McClatchey plead guilty in July of this year on charges that she submitted false and fraudulent claims for reimbursement to the Virginia Medicaid program, said U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman Peter Carr.

Fleming-McClatchey was the owner and operator of Professional Health Care Group in Woodbridge, where she falsely billed Medicaid for health services that she did not provide.

Prosecutors said she was using the Medicaid payments she received from the state while at Professional Healthcare Group to pay for the original restitution order.

In addition to the $3.7 million in ordered restitution payments, she was also sentenced to serve 40 months in prison.
