In conjunction with the start of the 2018-2019 school year for Manassas City Public Schools, the Manassas City Police Department is conducting a school traffic safety awareness campaign to educate the community on school zone and school bus traffic laws to help promote the safety of students and drivers.

FREDERICKSBURG – Construction to unlock gridlock on Interstate 95 in Fredericksburg has begun, and crews are working to add three new southbound lanes over six miles on one of the most congested sections of I-95 near the Rappahannock River.


STAFFORD — The Stafford County Board of Supervisors met with Transurban to discuss the expansion of Interstate 95 E-ZPass Express Lanes.

The E-ZPass lanes will be extended to milepost 134, just prior to Route 17, extending it from where it ends now at exit 143, Garrisonville Road. Transurban, operators of the E-ZPass lanes on I-95 and 495 in Virginia, plans to provide all funding for the new project so none of the money, $277 million, will come from Virginia or Stafford County.


STAFFORD — Bicycle trails are on the radar of county planners in Stafford.

Planners seek input from residents who would use the planned trails. The county will hold two meetings to talk about where the trails would be built, and how they fit into the county government’s comprehensive plan for the jurisdiction. 


WOODBRIDGE — Beginning this month, motorists in the Woodbridge area may start to see the dreaded orange traffic cones slowing things down as construction crews begin to relocate utilities for the widening of Route 1 from Mary’s Way to Featherstone Road.

This 1.3-mile section of Route 1 will go from being a four-lane undivided highway to a six-lane divided highway.  Work will include the construction of a 1 0-foot-wide multi-modal trail and a 5-foot-wide sidewalk along the sides of the route.
