From a press release:
Travelers should expect major lane closures on the I-395 general purpose lanes beginning the weekend of July 20-22, and continuing for at least six consecutive weekends, depending on weather. The weekend closures, which will occur from Friday nights until Monday mornings, are needed for crews to safely rehabilitate multiple bridges along I-395 between the Springfield Interchange and the Washington, D.C. line. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes. If travel in this area is unavoidable, drivers should use caution and plan extra travel time.
FREDERICKSBURG — A new project to ease congestion on Interstate 95 south will double the number of lanes through Fredericksburg.
It’ll also include a new river crossing about 90 feet above the Rappahannock River.
From VDOT:
Motorists will observe visible construction work beginning this week on Bells Hill Road in Stafford County, where a portion of the road is closed to through traffic between Virginia Belle Drive and Belle Vine Lane.
MANASSAS — In Manassas, officials are looking for more efficient ways to move more people through one of the city’s busiest intersections.
They’ve assigned a team of engineers to fix the intersection at Route 234 and Route 28 at the center of the city. It’s a place where a roundabout would possibly work.
MANASSAS — Historical preservationists don’t like it. Transportation officials favor it.
It’s called “alternative 2B,” and it’s part of a plan to extend Godwin Drive from near Novant Health/UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center in Manassas east to Route 28. The planned four-lane, a four-mile extension would serve Route 28 bypass would run between Lomond neighborhood and homes in Manassas Park.
