STAFFORD — The Stafford Regional Airport plans to expand its only runway by about 1,000 feet with construction starting in 2020 and ending in 2022.

The project was approved by the Federal Aviation Administration, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, and a meeting with adjacent landowners during a meeting held in 2015. The runway expansion will allow planes more room for takeoff, allowing them to travel non-stop to the west coast.

From the Virginia Department of Transportation:

Interstate 95 paving improvements will be underway in Stafford County between Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) and the Prince William County line during July and August, and drivers can expect nighttime delays on Sunday-Thursday evenings.

LAKE RIDGE — A transportation hotspot in Prince William County getting some new attention is an area off Minnieville Road marked by Telegraph Road to the south, and Summit School Road to the north.

On the recently released six-year plan adopted by the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, the authority allotted $11 million widen Telegraph and extend Summit School Road, enhancing this area as a commuter destination.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — As the construction ramps up for new express toll lanes on Interstate 66, and the population of Prince William County grows, more traffic relief is coming for Route 234 near Manassas.

The four-lane highway that links I-66 to I-95 has drawn attention lately with projects pushed forward by the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, particularly at the Brentsville Road interchange and the University Boulevard intersection.
