Prince William County, Va. –– Prince William County fire and rescue officials say their resources have been depleted this afternoon after wild winds whipped up fires across the area.
A Dodge Caravan struck the rear of a Prince William County Public Schools bus at the intersection of Dumfries Road (Va. 234) and Carrs Brooke Way at 9:52 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver of the van was flown to an area hospital, and an adult and a 15-year-old girl that were onboard the school bus were also taken to a local hospital.
It happened while the man was traveling north on U.S. 1 in Woodbridge.
His 2009 Jeep Wrangler accelerated and the driver swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting other cars on the road. Then the driver swerved completely off the road and into some trees that line Fox Lair Drive, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok. (more…)

Neighbors say she was a kind woman with wonderful children, and say they are saddened by her tragic loss.
Her husband, 52-year-old Daniel Lunie Everette, of Burke, is charged with murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
Some OmniRide buses will now use 15th Street instead of congested 14th Street in Washington.
Passengers who take the commuter buses from the State Department weekday afternoons will be affected by the change, which will have all OmniRide buses re-routed away from 14th Street between H Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
