Woodbridge, Va. — The Potomac Nationals and Kinston Indians have been rained out on Wednesday night. Heavy thunderstorms rolled through Woodbridge all afternoon, dumping massive amounts of rain and making it impossible to play.

The two clubs will play a doubleheader Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. Chien-Ming Wang was scheduled to start for Potomac on Wednesday; it is unknown whether he will pitch in Woodbridge on Thursday.


Politics

The 30-year-old Democrat said a family emergency kept him from greeting his supporters at Todos supermarket in Woodbridge. Thankfully, he says, things are OK with his family but he did not elaborate on what the issue was.

There are plans to reschedule the campaign kick off on July 25 but did not say where it would be located, and did not say why he is choosing to postpone the event to the end of the month.

The victim was walking in the area of Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. 1) and Potomac Hills Drive about 4:30 a.m. Thursday when a man approached him, demanded money, and stabbed the victim when he said he had no cash, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

A tow truck driver saw the victim who was walking along U.S. 1 near Sunnyside Nursery and asked the man if he needed help, but he declined, said Kennedy. The driver then saw a car come a pick up the victim, and police later found the victim with a friend at a pharmacy on Garrisonville Road (Va. 610). The couple was purchasing bandages when deputies found them.


Prince William

Transit officials announced Prince William County has ended its five-year, $289,000 deal with the First Baptist Church on Minnieville Road near Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge.

Officials’ hopes that commuters forced from a longtime commuter parking lot at Potomac Mills mall would choose to park at the church never materialized.
