It’s been nearly six years since former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe broke ground for a new Virginia Railway Express station at Potomac Shores.

To date, nothing has been built where the station is supposed to go, on a bluff overlooking the Potomac River along VRE’s Fredericksburg line, between the Quantico and Rippon stations. During a meeting of the OmniRide Board of Commissioners on Thursday, Dec. 5, Maureen Caddigan pressed acting VRE CEO Rich Dalton on the progress of the new station.


Those interested in forming a neighborhood watch program on their streets are encouraged to attend training on Dec. 9, 2019, at 7 p.m.

Before he leaves the office at the end of December, Woodbridge Supervisor Frank Principi will take a look back at the road ahead for the burgeoning neighborhood in eastern Prince William County.

After 12 years of service, Woodbridge District Supervisor Frank J. Principi is inviting the public to join him for what will be his final “New Woodbridge” town hall, Dec. 4, 2019, 7-9pm at the Ferlazzo Building at 15941 Donald Curtis Drive in Woodbridge.

A new 1,400-space, seven-floor commuter parking deck will be built between Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center and Wegmans in Woodbridge, where a new Potomac Nationals baseball stadium was slated to go.

The stadium deal fell through in 2o17 when the team and county leaders couldn’t reach a stadium financing deal. The team moved to Fredericksburg, became the Fredericksburg Nationals, and is slated to play ball in a new $30 million stadium in April.


One of the region’s largest shopping destinations will stay open later to cater to holiday shoppers, as well as hold a breakfast with military families, as pet photos with Santa events.

The mall will be open overnight Thanksgiving into  Black Friday. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day and will remain open until 10 p.m. the following day, Black Friday.

The emergency service plan will affect afternoon commuters on December 5, who rely on OmniRide Express buses to take them home.

Express Buses will only pick up passengers at the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station, at a stop next at Greyhound Bus station.
