Prince William County’s first brewpub to open, Ornery Public House, closed its doors in Woodbridge earlier this year.
Today, owner Randy Barnette tells us he’s moving to a smaller location in Fairfax. The brewery and restaurant will soon launch a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds for the relocation. Also, Barnette says he plans to reopen an Ornery location in Woodbridge once again, however, he did not say when.
MANASSAS — Imagine sitting at the dinner table munching on a dragon burger and sipping on a health potion while playing a game of Dungeons and Dragons.
That fantasy will soon be a reality when The Crossroads Tabletop Tavern opens in Downtown Manassas. It has long been a dream of owner John Hornberger to operate a gaming restaurant where patrons can dine on game themed food while playing the tabletop game of their choice.
LAKE RIDGE — A restauranteur will make another go of it at Tacketts Mill.
A restaurant space largely vacant for more nearly 20 years will serve up dishes once again in Lake Ridge.
WOODBRIDGE — Silver Diner is moving further into to the world of farm-to-table dining with new choices on a shorter menu.
The diner will add new vegan, vegetarian, and heather items like Asian brown rice bowls, avocado toast, and a new meatless miso burger.
MANASSAS — Taps-N-Apps has closed its doors in Manassas.
The eatery formerly known as Mackey’s Pub underwent a renovation last fall, kicked out all of the cigar-smoking regulars, and redid the kitchen and interior of the restaurant in an effort to attract new customers.
MANASSAS — Manassas could soon welcome its first rooftop restaurant.
The new eatery called Battle Street Bistro would be located at 9402 Battle Street next to BadWolf Public House and Okras.
MANASSAS — The sign hanging outside the restaurant may still say Mackey’s, but not for long.
The old restaurant that was once a cigar lounge is now “Taps-N-Apps,” with a newly redesigned interior, kitchen, and a menu full of smaller plated options.
WOODBRIDGE — Like little control freaks, people flock to Duck Donuts because they like to demand what toppings come on their doughnuts. The shop, with locations in Bristow, Stafford, and Woodbridge, offers toppings Oreo Cookies, vanilla drizzle, to bacon bits.
“We had a lot of demand for doughnut holes while people would see them being made for catering packages, wanting to know if they could buy them in smaller batches in the store. So now we’re offering them in a small, medium, and large size for customers during the week,” said Duck Donuts owner Larry Scherer.
It was once the Coffee House in Occoquan. Now, after lying dormant for many years, it’s now serving up some hearty slices of pizza.

There are changes in the works for the very first BadWolf Brewing Company.
“Little BadWolf,” as it’s known to customers and owners Jeremy and Sarah Meyers, sells brewing supplies and is still home to some small batch brewing operations for BadWolf. It was replaced by “Big BadWolf” when the company expanded in 2015 to a new location at KAO Circle in Manassas.
