Some Prince William County residents in the Dale City area are learning about a new natural gas pipeline that could be laid near their homes.

According to project documents, New York-based Opal Fuels is considering laying a seven-mile pipeline from the county’s landfill on Route 234 along a powerline easement that cuts through the Hillendale, Mapledale, and Princedale neighborhoods in Dale City, to the county government center at 1 County Complex Court, off Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge.

Kim Short kicked off her campaign for the Potomac District seat on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.

The Democrat welcomed supporters and those interested in learning more about her to the Montclair Community Library on Saturday, January 14, 2023, where she outlined her platform.

In her fourth State of the County address, Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chair At-Large Ann Wheeler remarked on the community’s diversity and inclusivity, investing in education, economic development, the county’s economy, collective bargaining, public safety, and transportation.

“I am thrilled to announce that our economy is thriving,” Wheeler said in her remarks. “Our internal economic development initiatives alone have resulted in $1.3 billion in capital investment in just 2022, leading to the creation and retention of over 1,700 jobs. Thanks to the resilience and determination of our community, we have not only weathered the storm but have emerged stronger than ever before. Our county has become a place where people can live, work, and play with confidence and optimism for the future.”

Margaret Franklin will run for a second term on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.  She’s represented the Woodbridge District since January 2020.

During her time in office, Franklin has secured half a billion dollars worth of investments into the Woodbridge District, including the Riverside Station Town Center, a new I-95 distribution center, and investments in small businesses, particularly those impacted by the coronavirus.

Democrat Deshundra Jefferson announced today that she is running for Chair of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in 2023.

Jefferson will face fellow Democrat Ann Wheeler, who’s held the position since 2020. So far, there’s no Republican challenger for the seat.

(Prince William Times — metred paywall) Kerensa Sumers, 39, of Manassas, has announced her bid to represent the Gainesville District on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in the wake of former supervisor Pete Candland’s resignation. She is the first and only Democrat so far to officially throw her hat in the ring.

Prince William County Republicans will hold a mass meeting on January 4, 2023, to select its nominee for the Special Election to fill the Gainesville District Supervisor seat.

The mass meeting is planned to be held at Battlefield High School. It will be open to any registered voter residing in the Gainesville district who promises to support the election of the candidate nominated, states a press release.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently approved funding agreements with the Virginia Department of Transportation, or VDOT, for a total of $3.25 million to build and administer two sidewalks that will make pedestrians safer in the Town of Occoquan and along Token Forest Drive in the Coles Magisterial District.
