Description: Come down to the Visitor Center to explore the unique properties of water. Conduct some experiments, learn what a watershed is, and meet the animals that live in Leesylvania’s water.
Virginia State Park’s 75th Anniversary Celebration

Location: Visitor Center and Breakwater Marina Store
Description: Come out and enjoy Virginia State Parks’ 75th birthday celebration. Stop by the Visitor Center to learn about the history of Leesylvania and the park system as a whole. And enjoy games and activities at the Breakwater Marina store starting at 2 p.m. Wish Virginia State Parks a happy birthday and eat free cake. The cake will be cut at 2 p.m. at the marina store.
Known as “Light Horse Harry” Lee, the historical figure served as a delegate to the continental congress, favored adoption of the U.S. constitution, and was Virginia’s ninth governor.
Leesylvania State Park, once a plantation on the Potomac River where Lee was born, will provide a tour of his birthplace, tell visitors of his life and accomplishments and showcase what life was like in colonial times.
