MANASSAS, Va. -- For nearly three years, Vertical Rock Indoor Climbing Center has brought climbing to the forefront of fitness.

Those who are searching to add to their fitness routine or begin a whole new activity, Vertical Rock Indoor Climbing Center features a full climbing gym suitable for all levels of experience and families.The center, owned by Ian and Lindsey Colton, is much more advanced than what you would find at an amusement park or local mall.

Vertical Rock focuses on teaching people how to properly rock climb.  Ian Colton said that climbers range from three to 75-years-old, and groups of families, partners, and singles can easily use Vertical Rock's facility.

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. -- At 150 degrees, the enzymes inside begin to break down and sugars start to separate from the grains. What remains is poured into a boil kettle where the batch begins to boil at 210 degrees. Hops are added for flavor and then removed.

In the end, there will be 85 to 90 gallons of Backpack Wheat – it will be the only batch made this week, and it will last them just as long.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - On August 7, a man was arrested for leaving two young children in a car at a Walmart parking lot. According to the report, the children were unharmed. 

Here's the latest from Prince William police:

Cruelty or Injuries to Children – On August 7th at 6:49PM, police responded to the Wal-Mart located at 14000 Worth Ave in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a child neglect call. The caller reported to police that they had located two children that were unsupervised in a vehicle parked in the parking lot. Officers arrived and located the vehicle and the children, identified as an 8 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. The investigation revealed that the children were in the vehicle unsupervised for approximately 40 minutes before a guardian, identified as the accused, exited the store and approached officers. Both children were unharmed. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

The largest county fair in Virginia, as it’s been dubbed, began Friday night at the Prince William County Fairgrounds at 10624 Dumfries Road in Manassas. Several events are planned throughout the fair’s run now through August 16.

Good morning – It’s back to school time at SERVE so I have two super projects for you- first Please stop by the Philadelphia Tavern in Old Town Manassas on Thursday August 14th from 5-8pm to enjoy great prices on drinks and appetizers and lots of fun between 5-8pm and bring non-perishable food for their food pantry. Things are very sparse this time of year so please do you best to help out those less fortunate. Secondly, volunteers are needed the following week on August 19th from 3-6pm and August 20th from 9am-1pm to distribute backpacks to the kids with new school supplies. · Historic Manassas has lots of fun events and volunteers are needed to help! The first event is the Civil War Weekend on Saturday August 23rd. Volunteers are needed to be parade marshals in the morning and Bourbon servers and checking ID’s from 5:30-8:15pm. The next event on Saturday September 13th for the Bands, Brews and BBQ Festival. Volunteers are needed for the morning shift of 10:45am- 2:45 to pour beer, check ID’s, assist with ticket sales or checking the VIP tent Id’s. They also need these exact same jobs done for the afternoon shift of 2:30-6pm. These events are super fun so please call Kristina at (703) 361-6599 for more info.

· Transitional Housing BARN needs adult volunteers to help sort and organize donations for their monthly yard sales. Come join the team that works during the week between 8am-2pm. They also need volunteers the second Saturday of each month to set up from 6am-8:30 am and then take down late morning. · Literacy Volunteers of America are gearing up for their next volunteer tutor training on September 20th and October 4th. HAYMARKET, Va. -- The bridge that carries traffic over Interstate 66 at Haymarket will soon be demolished, and the Virginia Department of Transportation wants you to know what their plans are for that stretch of road.

080814 jarrod hillDUMFRIES, Va. -- Motorcyclists will take to the streets of Dumfries on Saturday in support of a recent high school graduate battling testicular cancer.

The Harley Davidson of Quantico dealership will host a charity fund raiser poker run called “Nobody Fights [Cancer] Alone,” for 18-year-old Jarrod Hill, who graduated from C.D. Hylton High School in June. Diagnosed last fall, Hill underwent chemotherapy treatments in January and February. He was homeschooled at the time but was later allowed to graduate with his class.

“We anticipate several hundred motorcycles to participate in the event, which is an event that will draw people's attention,” said event organizer Dave Jarrell.

BRISTOW, Va. - On August 5, intruders entered the Sheffield Manor Community Pool area and damaged a television in the community building. According to the report, the intruders may have entered through an unlocked door. Here's the latest from Prince William police:

Commercial Burglary – On August 5th at 10:29AM, officers responded to the Sheffield Manor Community Pool located at 12354 Penzance Ln in Bristow (20136) to investigate a burglary. Staff reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:00PM on August 4th and 10:00AM on August 5th.

The investigation revealed that during that time, an unknown suspect(s) entered the pool area on the property and threw various items into the deep end of the pool. The suspect(s) then entered the community building, possibly through an unsecured door. Once inside, the suspect(s) damaged a television which was mounted on the wall. No property was reported missing. Damage is estimated around $845.
