An armed man robbed a woman in the Target parking lot in Stafford Marketplace in North Stafford while the woman’s young granddaughter was with her.

According to Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Bill Kennedy, the woman and child had walked out of Target to her vehicle. She then placed the child in the carseat. When she stood back up, she was shocked to find a man standing next to her. She asked him to step back, and he responded by asking for change. She declined. That’s when it got scary.

On April 11 the non-profit organization, Homes for Our Troops, will begin building a home for Marine Corporal Marcus Dandrea in Haymarket.

The groundbreaking for the home will be held at 14600 Washington Street at 11 a.m. and is open to the public. Residents are being encouraged to attend the ceremony, and show their support.

On April 3 Prince William police responded to a call from Small World Day Care in Woodbridge, to investigate a suspicious person.

According to a Prince William police release, a staff member at the day care stated that a young man entered the location and was trying to pick up a child.

Ryan Sawyers, a small business owner, has announced his candidacy for Chairman of the Prince William County School Board.

Sawyers, a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and West Virginia University, will be running against Tim Singstock – the Republican candidate for the seat. The current incumbent, Chairman Milton Johns has decided not to run for re-election this year.
