A time capsule was buried in at newly opened Haymarket-Gainesville Community Library.

Students from Mountain View Elementary School gathered for an assembly on Friday to celebrate the opening of the new library. There, Gainesville District Supervisor Peter Candland joined school and public library officials who all worked to collect items for a special time capsule for burial at the library.

Residents of Manassas Park will get another break on the deadline to pay their personal property taxes.

November 20, 2015, is now the deadline for Manassas Park residents to have their taxes paid. The tax payment deadline is set annually on October 5, but the City Council extended the deadline to October 30 due to issues with the city’s financial software known as AS 400.

A 15-year-old is in jail after investigators said he made threats to bomb Brooke Point High School and shoot those at the school.

Stafford authorities were notified of the threat at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 when the school principal called 911. The school administrator told authorities several parents told him the suspect who is a student at the school, had planned to blow up the school and shoot people at the school, according to a statement from the Stafford sheriff’s office.

Sheetz gas station and food store will expand its presence in Woodbridge.

A new store will be built at the corner of Caton Hill and Telegraph roads, next to the newly expanded Telegraph Road Commuter Lot. The new Sheetz will have expanded space for indoor and outdoor seating for restaurant customers who order quick-service food — sandwiches, buffalo wings, and fries — the company has become known for.
