Arrest made in Woodbridge murder case

Police arrested two suspect believed to have been involved in the shooting death of a man shot and killed inside his Woodbridge home on November 11.

Murder Investigation *ARRESTS – On November 14th, detectives from the Homicide Unit arrested a suspect, identified as Bernard WINESTOCK, in connection to the murder of Zachary METER which occurred in the 14400 block of Village Dr in Woodbridge on November 11th. This suspect was driving a vehicle allegedly used in the incident. The vehicle was located in Fort Washington, MD and was stopped by Prince George’s County Police leading to his arrest.

Santa parade returns to Lake Ridge for Tacketts Mill ‘WinterFest’

A Christmas parade returns to Lake Ridge this year with a new route, and a new holiday festival.

“Santa’s Lake Ridge Parade” will travel down Harbor Drive at 11 a.m. on December 12. The parade will end at Tackett’s Mill shopping center on Tacketts Mill Drive in Lake Ridge.

7-story tower going up at Manassas Park City Center

A new 7-story tower is going up at Manassas Park City Center.

The new mixed-use development will contain a mix of apartments and commercial real estate. The tower will be located behind the City Center complex at Manassas Drive and Market Street, across from City Hall. This is the newest development in City Center since the original mixed-use retail and residential project opened in the mid-2000s.

Raised BPOL thresholds good for small business, bad for county coffers

Increasing the threshold of the infamous BPOL tax in Prince William County is just the start of the conversation.

The BPOL tax (business and professional licensing tax) is collected on the amount of gross receipts from licensed local businesses that generate at least $250,000 in gross sales. Tax rates vary between 5 cents and 33 cents per every $100. The tax collects $26.5 million in annual revenue for the county.
