A 144-foot cell phone tower will not be erected at the Prince of Peace United Methodist Chruch just outside Dale City.

The tower, denied by the Prince Willaim County Board of Supervisors, would have filled a gap in cell phone and data coverage in the area, serving Verizon customers.

From Prince William County Transportation Director Rick Canizales:

The purpose of this project is to complete a section of the Shared-Use Path along Route 234 southbound from 240 feet south of Exeter Drive to Country Club Drive, for an approximate distance of 4,300 feet. More specifically this proposed trail would connect from an existing trail at the north side of the First Mount Zion Baptist Church to the Brittany Community at Exeter Drive, proceeding north in front of the Brittany Neighborhood Park.
