LAKE RIDGE, Va. — A popular trail in Lake Ridge will close for the remainder of the month while crews work to improve it.

The Hawkins-Reeve VFW Post 7916 has been awarded a $2500 grant by the Home Depot Foundation and Team Depot for FY2016. The support of this generous grant will greatly improve the physical infrastructure of the Hawkins-Reeve VFW Post 7916 and its 740 Post and Auxiliary members.

Motorists can anticipate brief delays on Route 631 (Bells Hill Road) in Stafford County over the next two weeks for trench widening and paving.
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Fire and rescue crews were called to Blue and Gray Parkway in southern Stafford County, near Fredericksburg after a man shot and killed himself on a highway bridge.
Crews arrived on the scene about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and reported the victim suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound the head, according to initial reports.
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — The reward for information in a sexual assualt that occurred on Halloween is increased from $1,000 to $2,500.
A woman was driving east on Route 3 in Stafford County when her car was struck by another driver. Upon stopping to insepct the damage to and speak wih the second driver, the woman was pulled from her car, dragged into a wooded area, and sexaully assulated over the course of two hours.

MANASSAS, Va. — Voters shook up the Manassas City Council on Tuesday when they elected a two new Democrats to the board, and sent home a long-serving Republican.
Mark Wolfe, a Republican turned Democrat in 2016, won his reelection bid with nearly 20% of the vote, more than any of the field of six candidates vying to fill three council seats that were up for grabs. Wolfe was elected to the City Council eight years ago as a Republican.
Unopposed Congressman Gerald E. “Gerry” Connolly will keep his seat serving Fairfax and Prince William counties.
The Democrat won his fifth-straight term in office Tuesday night. He first won the seat in 2008.

MANASSAS PARK, Va. — We won’t know until Wednesday who will win three seats on the Manassas Park City Governing Body.
Only one person, Donald Shumaker, turned in his paperwork in time to have his name listed on the ballot. At least seven other people were running as write-in candidates.
