PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. -- One man is in custody and charged in fatal stabbing of Samuel Enrique Godoy-Figueroa, who was killed outside a shopping center on Stream Walk Lane near Manassas. 

From police: 

Murder Investigation *ARREST – On November 26, detectives from the Prince William County Police Homicide Unit identified and arrested the suspect involved in the murder of an adult man, later identified as Samuel Enrique Godoy-Figueroa, which occurred in the 8000 block of Stream Walk Ln in Manassas on November 24. The investigation revealed that the accused and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the victim was stabbed multiple times and later died. Both men were known to one another. The accused, identified as Guillermo Estaban URREGO, was located and apprehended without incident at an apartment on Milestone Sq in Ashburn with the assistance of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. No other suspects are being sought in this investigation.

From the Department of Defense: 

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

Senior Chief Petty Officer Scott C. Dayton, 42, of Woodbridge, Virginia, died Nov. 24 in northern Syria, of wounds sustained in an improvised explosive device blast.

He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Two, which is based in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Dayton obtained the following qualifications during his military career: Enlisted Explosive Ordnance Disposal Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.

Dayton entered the U.S. Navy on Feb. 17, 1993 and during his service received 19 awards, which included: Bronze Star, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, seven Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy "E" Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, two Iraq Campaign Medals, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

On November 25, 2016 at approximately 8:52 a.m. patrol units responded to the 1400 block of Brooke Road. When deputies arrived on the scene they observed a male subject lying in the front yard of a residence.

Hugh Wesley Musselman, II, age 32 of Kings Highway in King George, was declared dead on arrival.

MANASSAS, Va. -- Police in Manassas are investigating a homicide that occurred overnight. 

From police: 

On November 25, 2016 at approximately 1 a.m. officers responded to the 9200 block of Byrd Drive for a report of a shooting.  Officers arrived and located a male suffering from several gunshot wounds.  The victim was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.  Currently no arrests have been made.  Detectives are continuing to investigate this case and more information will be released when available.

The victim has been identified as Jose Tomas Velasquez, 44, of Manassas.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. -- A multi-phase effort to widen Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge is complete. 

The Prince William County Department of Transportation this month finished work on removing an island in the eastbound lanes of Prince William Parkway and Minnieville Road in Woodbridge. With the island gone, drivers headed toward I-95 can make use of all three lanes of the eastbound parkway, which was widened between Minniville and Old Bridge roads last fall.

It was an event run by the club I co-sponsor with Mary Garecht, one of our counselors. Our club is called the FOR club, which stands for Friends of Rachel. This stems from the Rachel Challenge assemblies which were ideas and writings from Rachel Scott, the first victim of the Columbine school shooting. Her ideas and writing were about spreading kindness and compassion, acts of kindness, etc. starting a chain reaction of kindness.

KO Distilling is releasing their first-ever brown spirit, Bare Knuckle American Wheat Whiskey, just in time for Black Friday. Containing a high wheat and no corn mash bill of 60% wheat, 30% rye and 10% malted barley, all from Bay’s Best Feed Farm in Heathsville, Va., Bare Knuckle has been aged for a year in full-size 53-gallon new charred American Oak barrels.
