From Prince William police: 

Attempted Malicious Wounding – On February 14 at 5:15PM, officers responded to the 2800 block of Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 48-year-old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused attempted to cut the victim with a box cutter. The parties eventually separated and the police were contacted. No injuries were reported. The accused was located a short time later and arrested without incident.

From Prince William police: 

Residential Burglary – On February 13 at 12:39AM, officers responded to a vacant residence located in the 15100 block of Wentwood Ln in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate multiple trespassers. As officers arrived, they observed several subjects inside. When officers challenged the subjects, they refused to exit the residence. As officers were investigating, noises were heard coming from a neighboring residence.

Strong Armed Robbery *ARREST – On February 13, Cristian Alexander PLEITEZ CORTEZ, wanted for a robbery which occurred in the 4800 block of Dale Blvd in Woodbridge earlier that morning, turned himself into police without incident at the Gar-Field Station in Woodbridge.

At the Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution (VASSAR) annual conference in Richmond on February 11, 2017, four members of the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department were recognized with VASSAR Public Safety Awards.
Technician II Shawn Bliss received the VASSAR Heroism Award.

On June 6, 2015 Technician Bliss, while off duty, entered the rain swollen Shenandoah River in order to assess occupants of an overturned canoe for injuries. One of the occupants was a young boy who wanted to cross back to the other side with Shawn Bliss. Shawn was hanging onto the shoulder strap of the boy’s life jacket while walking behind him. The boy lost his footing and slipped into the water. Both were swept into the river and drawn into the rapids. (more…)
