WOODBRIDGE — Prince William County leaders may be ready to part with nearly $1 million to dredge Neabsco Creek.

The U.S. Coast Guard ordered the leisure waterway in Woodbridge closed earlier this month when it found the waters were too shallow for boats to safely enter and exit the creek’s channel.

It informed her that she was being considered as a replacement for Murphy, who died in his home from a heart attack in February 2017. Nickerson, who serves on the town’s architectural review board, ultimately wasn’t selected by the town council, but that letter got her thinking.

“It woke up a bug in me,” said Nickerson. “Maybe this town council thing is for me. Maybe this is a way to enact change in my community.”

WOODBRIDGE — Students at Potomac Senior High School are focused on how to prevent a mass shooting at their school.

About 200 gathered in the school’s Woodbridge auditorium at 3401 Panther Pride Drive on April 20, the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado,  to talk about the threat of shootings, as well as mental health issues.
