From an email:

The Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board (R-Board) will temporarily waive fees for the disposal of yard debris from residents through August 26, 2018, at the Regional Landfill at Eskimo Hill. The Stafford and Fredericksburg area served by the Regional Landfill has received excessive rainfall this summer, resulting in extremely saturated soil. The wet ground, coupled with an unusually high number of violent thunderstorms with high winds has caused many trees and limbs to fall, and the R-Board wants to assist residents with clean-up activities. The waiver applies only to the disposal by residents, not commercial firms, and is only in effect at the Eskimo Hill site.

“The wind picked up, I saw the rain going sideways I looked out the front door I couldn’t see the green of the trees across from my house, all I could see was gray and I knew it was rain. So I grabbed my wife and we ran into my daughter’s closet and I said: ‘we have to get out of harm’s way.’ I just had a feeling like a tornado or something was going to happen,” said Micheal Davis, who was with his wife at their Deacon Road home when the storm blew through.

When the storm passed, Davis found nine large trees down in his yard.

WOODBRIDGE — Beginning this month, motorists in the Woodbridge area may start to see the dreaded orange traffic cones slowing things down as construction crews begin to relocate utilities for the widening of Route 1 from Mary’s Way to Featherstone Road.

This 1.3-mile section of Route 1 will go from being a four-lane undivided highway to a six-lane divided highway.  Work will include the construction of a 1 0-foot-wide multi-modal trail and a 5-foot-wide sidewalk along the sides of the route.
