WOODBRIDGE — Prince William County Parks and Recreation Commissioners will now have their compensation tied to attendance.

The county Board of Supervisors voted to withhold commissioners’ $400 monthly compensation if they don’t attend the regularly scheduled monthly meetings. The move comes after some commissioners missed multiple meetings over the past three years and still collected a paycheck.

WOODBRIDGE — A Star Wars event at Freedom High School put on by Boy Scout Troop 501 has been abruptly canceled, following reports that the high school told the troop they could not have full access to the gymnasium, despite a previous agreement.

The event, Star Wars Days, was scheduled for December 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Freedom High School gymnasium.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY (Press Release) – On November 28 at 2:08PM, officers responded to the Metro PCS located at 17997 Dumfries Shopping Plaza in the Town of Dumfries (22026) to investigate a robbery. An employee reported to police that two unknown males wearing masks, one armed with a handgun, entered the store and demanded money. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the business on foot. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 searched the surrounding area for the suspects who were not located. The investigation continues.

MANASSAS — (Press Release) On November 29, 2018 at approximately 1:51 p.m., officers of the Manassas City Police Department responded to the area of Signal Hill Rd and Fairview Ave for a report of shots fired.

A witness reported to police they observed a subject discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle. There have been no reported injuries or property damage in connection with this incident.

STAFFORD — (Press Release) Two suspects believed to be behind a shooting of a residence in the northern end of the county were arrested on Tuesday evening by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

On November 27, 2018, at approximately 6:11 p.m., a caller reported hearing a shot and believed a bullet entered his apartment located in the 1000 block of Providence Street near the Stafford Marketplace shopping center. Sgt. Zotos arrived on scene and observed two subjects near a vehicle who proceeded to quickly flee on foot. He gave chase and lost sight of the subjects in the woods behind the apartments.

STAFFORD — A new FRED express bus route that will run between Stafford and Quantico.

The Stafford County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved the service which comes after an agreement between Quantico Marine Corps Base and Fredericksburg Regional Transit. Supervisors agreed to fund the $32,000 service for a six-month trial period.
