DALE CITY, Va. – On August 23, a 911 caller told police that they heard several gun shots in the area and once police arrived, they discovered shell casings in front of an apartment complex. According to the report, police further discovered evidence possibly caused by stray bullets but there were no injuries, other damages to property, or suspects found.

DALE CITY, Va. – On August 24, 7-Eleven employees told police that two men entered the store and tried to steal two cases of beer. According to the report, an employee tried to stop them but was assaulted by the two men, one of whom said he had a knife. Police are seeking suspects.

MANASSAS, Va. — In the building where once a daily newspaper was produced, vines now grow up the façade, grass grows up through cracks in the parking lot, and a sign still hangs on the front door of 9009 Church Street stating all deliveries need to be taken around back.

But no one has occupied the old Manassas Journal Messenger building since the newspaper, which changed its name to News & Messenger after combining with the Potomac News of Woodbridge, ceased publication in 2012.

NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — The Aquia Volunteer Rescue Squad building and the land it sits on will soon belong to Stafford County.

A deal brokered between the gated community’s Aquia Harbour Property Owners Association and local government officials will lead to the 22-year-old building, known as Station 9, being upgraded within the next 10 years, according to county documents. Volunteers and career fire fighters from Stafford County will continue to use the building for fire and rescue operations.
