Fairfax County, Va. –– As flu season approaches, Fairfax County officials are betting many have questions how to protect themselves from getting sick.

An online discussion will be held at 11 a.m. on the county’s Web site where residents can ask questions about the upcoming flu season to Dr. Peter Troell, of the county’s health department.

Washington’s transportation department Tuesday is expected to release the results of a new survey of commuters who were told to relocate their Downtown Slug line.

A two-week pilot project earlier this month required the relocation of Slugs – commuters who ride in vehicles of three or more occupants – from their pick-up point on 14th Street, between H Street and New York Avenue, one block over to 15th Street.


Fairfax County, Va. –– Police say they tracked down the man responsible for burglarized a series of businesses in the Alexandria area and arrested him.

The suspect on Oct. 3 broke into several businesses along Shawnee Road, off Edsall Road in Fairfax County, and took six laptop computers, said Fairfax County police spokesman Richard Henry.


Ft. Belvoir –– The National Museum of the Army planned for Ft. Belvoir will have to undergo a mandatory public hearing.

The 177,000 square foot building is slated to be built on a portion of the a golf course on the military garrison, but plans for the museum will have to be reviewed before the center is built.

Woodbridge, Va. –– It’s a bust for a new commuter slug line from Woodbridge to Alexandria.

The new line, which was scheduled to begin Tuesday at the Virginia Railway Express station in Woodbridge, was going to the first slug line to take commuters to Old Town Alexandria.


Fairfax County, Va. –– What does the Mt. Vernon District need to be a more likeable, livable, safer place to live?

That question will be posed to residents who attend one of two community meetings that will focus on police and crime prevention, fire and rescue improvements, access to courts, medical care and other community services.
