Police on Sunday were called to the 3200 block of Birchdale Square after a man told police he had just been carjacked.

The 21-year-old victim was in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 14300 block of Potomac Mills Road at 1:50 a.m. Sunday when a man and woman walked up to him and asked him to give them a ride to the nearby Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission’s bus terminal, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

An employee arriving at the National Museum of the Marine Corps on Friday morning found the damage caused by the latest round of shots fired at the building.

Alexandria, Va. ––  Transportation officials called for continued vigilance after federal authorities say a Virginia man planned to bomb several Metro stations next year.

Farooque Ahmed, 34, of Ashburn, was arrested Wednesday after investigators said he was working with suspected members of al-Qaeda in planning multiple bombings at Metro stations.


Fairfax County, Va. –– A door-to-door meat salesman is under arrest, and police in the Groveton area say he may be linked to a series of burglaries there.

Officers were called to the 6300 block of Chimney Wood Court, just off South Kings Highway, about 4 p.m. Wednesday, after a woman said her purse was missing.


Triangle, Va. –– Bullet holes still remain at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, where someone last week fired several shots into the exterior of the building.

Visitors have asked why someone would take aim at the museum, which has become a polarizing symbol of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Lake Ridge, Va. –– Police say a man robbed a grocery store and then led police on a chase, all while his young child was inside the getaway car.

Officers were called to the Bloom grocery store at 12420 Dillingham Square in Lake Ridge at 9:53 p.m. Monday for a report of a robbery.
