At 9:55 a.m., fire and rescue crews were called to the 1300 block of Bayside Avenue for a report of an outside fire. When they arrived, they doused the flames coming from a medium-sized trash and discovered what appeared to be human remains.
Two hours later, the state medical examiner confirmed the presence of burnt, human remains.
At 6:10 p.m. Thursday, police were called to the 17200 block of Wexford Loop in Dumfries, off of Wayside Drive and U.S. 1, for a report of an attempted robbery.
Officers found a 33-year-old man had been assaulted by four men, but nothing was taken from him.
Stafford sheriff’s deputies Wednesday charged a 17-year-old student with brandishing a weapon during an altercation with at least three students on March 7.
Investigators filed the charge, as well as assault and disorderly conduct charges Wednesday.
