STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — At the end of a three-hour ordeal in Stafford County on Friday, detectives found a backpack filled with drugs on an island in the Rappahannock River.

A Stafford sheriff’s deputy stopped a truck in the area of U.S. 1 at the Falmouth Bridge, a span that connects Fredericksburg and Stafford County over the Rappahannock, about 9:35 a.m. Friday. Authorities said the driver had defective equipment on his car and a license plate displayed in the front window.

STAFFORD, Va. — It’s the day after a bomb threat disrupted life for students, teachers, and parents at Rodney Thompson Middle School.

Now that bomb sniffing dogs have cleared the scene and classes are back in session at the Stafford County school, the investigation is underway into who threatened to bomb the school.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A Prince William County elementary school principal is being investigated by police.

The county’s school system announced Monday Kilby Elementary School Principal Jenny Bermant is placed in administrative leave following an internal investigation by security personnel. The results of the investigation were turned over to the police department for further examination, according to a statement from the schools.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A taxicab driver was carjacked in Woodbridge early Monday.

Police were called to Prince William Parkway and York Drive at 2:45 a.m., where the driver told officers he was stopped at a traffic light when his fare began to assault him and then ordered him out of the cab. The driver got out, the fare hopped into the front seat and then drove away, according to police documents.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Three horses in Fairfax County were found wounded on Thursday.

The horses, which graze on a property in the 2600 block of Frying Pan Road near Dulles Airport, were cut and needed medical attention. The wounds don’t appear to be life threatening, stated Fairfax County police.
