A Woodbridge man faces charges in a fatal crash on Virginia roads over the Memorial Day weekend – one of seven deadly crashes that occurred on state roads.
Thomas J. Smith, of Woodbridge, faces reckless driving charges in a crash that occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 95 near Lorton. Rashid K. Humphreys, 30, of Yonkers, N.Y., was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. He was taken to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Virginia State Police reported.

Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said the victim went to the area of Featherstone Road and Sycamore Street in Woodbridge to meet a group of men. While there during the early morning hours of Wednesday, the men assaulted the victim, knocked him to the ground, went through his pockets but didn’t take anything, and then fled, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
MANASSAS, Va. — A police officer tried to sever several warrants for a woman in Manassas and was nearly run over, police said.
It happened at 2 p.m. Wednesday in front of a home in the 8900 block of Traveller Street in Manassas. The officer walked up to the woman, who is now the suspect in the case, who was sitting inside of her car, and tried to serve a warrant. As the officer approached, the woman put the car in reverse nearly striking the cop, police said. The woman stopped the car and the cop tried to approach her a second time, and this time reached through the window of the car and grabbed the woman. She then put the car in drive, knocking the officer off balance, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
Kermit Gosnell, the man who ran the “house of horrors” abortion clinic in Pennsylvania was found guilty on three of four charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of four babies, and on an involuntary manslaughter charge for the death of a Woodbridge woman.
The verdict was handed down today in a Philadelphia courtroom.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. – A homeless woman was raped while inside of her tent in Woodbridge.
Police said the victim was asleep at an homeless encampment in the area of Potomac Mills Road and Town Center Drive at when a man she knew entered the tent and raped her at 4:11 a.m. The man then fled the area and then turned himself into police a short time later.

STAFFORD, Va. – Stafford County sheriff’s deputies arrested a fugitive and extradited him to Raleigh to face serious charges of child sexual assault.
STAFFORD, Va. — Charges have been brought against a Stafford County man who shot his wife late last month, investigators said.
A grand jury in Stafford today indicted 42-year-old Arthur Gonzales, of 59 Alderman Drive, in the death of his estranged wife, Julie Serena Gonzales. Stafford sheriff deputies found the woman shot to death inside Gonzales’ home on April 19. The suspect told 911 operators that his wife attacked him and that he shot her after an argument, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
