STAFFORD, Va. —  A doctor in Stafford County was arrested this morning after police said she over-prescribed medications that lead to a patient overdose.

In all, the suspect faces 95 indictments against her that were handed down from a Stafford County grand jury Monday. The suspect, Dr. Nibedita Mohanty, 54, of 441 Marlborough Point Road in Stafford, was arrested outside of her office on Courthouse Road this morning, said sheriff’s office spokesman Bill Kennedy.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A man was hit with a tire iron over the weekend, and now a woman faces charges.

The assault happened in the 2100 block of Culpeper Drive in Woodbridge at 6:02 p.m. Saturday. The 26-year-old victim said he and the suspect were involved in argument, and then the suspect went to her car, pulled out a tire iron, and then struck the victim in the head with it, according to a police report.

NOKESVILLE, Va. — Two horses are dead in what police are calling a suspicious incident that took place Friday morning in Nokesville.

A 10-year-old thoroughbred mare was found dead in a field. Another, a quarter horse gelding palomino, was found nearby severely injured and had to be put down, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

DALE CITY, Va. – A Florida man faces charges of indecent liberties and sexual battery of a young girl who lives in our area.

A 13-year-old girl was abused at a home in the 4600 block of Evansdale Road in Dale City on Wednesday, said Prince William spokesman Jonathan Perok. Police were called to the home for a report of a domestic disturbance and then later arrested the man.

MANASSAS, Va. — Someone is using the telephone to harass residents of Manassas and Prince William County falsely stating he’s raising money for the Manassas Police Department.

But officials said the department is not making these calls, and it does not hire third-party fundraisers to garner cash for its police officers.

MONTCLAIR, Va. — Students and staff are outside Henderson Elementary School this morning after someone made a bomb threat at the school.

Police are on the scene, and students and staff are being held in a safe area while investigators work to determine the credibility of the threat, school officials said.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Someone shot out a window at Occoquan Elementary School on Monday morning.

Police said a single bullet was shot through one of the classroom windows of the school. No one was inside the school at the time of the shooting. The bullet damaged a SmartBoard inside a classroom causing $12,000 in damage, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

STAFFORD, Va. — Employees at Del’s Towing and Wrecker Service in North Stafford made a shattering discovery Friday morning – the glass door to their shop had been smashed.

Stafford County sheriff’s deputies were called to the businesses on Va. 610 just after 7:30 a.m., after employees found chards of glass broken. Nothing from the shop was stolen, said sheriff’s office spokesman Bill Kennedy.
