The Department of Homeland Security came to Gainesville to help hotel employees learn how to recognize potential sex trafficking victims.

They gathered at a Hampton Inn as part of DHS’ Blue Campaign, ‘the unified voice for DHS’ efforts to combat human trafficking which involves law enforcement, government, non-governmental, and private organizations to protect the basic right of freedom and bring those who exploit human lives to justice.”


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – Four people are in custody after a robbery turned to murder in Dumfries.

Detectives from the Prince William County Police Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, made multiple arrests in connection to the murder of James Edward Grooms that occurred in the area of Buell Court and Old Triangle Road in Dumfries on July 20.


A woman was held with a gun to her head and nearly raped at a vaping supply store.

The 27-year-old victim walked into East Coast Vapers, at 432 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford, just before it closed Friday, August 30. A store employee then pointed a gun at her head and tried to sexually assault her, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.


STAFFORD — A suspect was arrested on numerous charges early Wednesday morning by units with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

On Aug. 13, around 11:50 p.m., Deputy Russo and Deputy Fulford responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle driving in a field at Fredericksburg Motor Sports located at 430 Kings Highway.


STAFFORD COUNTY — A shoeless, 26-year-old man hitched a ride on a school bus to Stafford High School.

The bus picked up the man in the Lansberry Park neighborhood in the George Washington District, near Fredericksburg, on Thursday morning. In addition to having no shoes on his feet, the man also had no pack on his back, said Stafford sheriff’s office spokeswoman Amanda Vicinanzo.
