Federal officials have fanned out into area neighborhoods in search of people who are suspected of being in the U.S. illegally.

The change in enforcement tactics comes as Prince William County ended its relationship with federal Immigrations and Customs authorities in June. Under the old 297(g) agreement that had been in place since 2007, customs officials were notified when a suspect with a federal detainer to their name was released from the Prince William County Adult Detention Center in Manassas.

A Prince William County man faces charges of stalking after police were called to a woman’s home.

On September 24 at 11:46 a.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 10800 block of Caraway Circle near Manassas to investigate a report of a disorderly person. The victim, a 41-year-old woman, told police that an acquaintance came to her home and attempted to talk her.

Police in Manassas were called to the scene of a fatal crash today at 1:41 a.m.

A 2004 blue Saturn ran off the road into the grass median and collided into a tree at Ashton Avenue and Rolling Road. The driver, identified as Derek Scott Lett, 29, of Manassas, was pronounced deceased on scene by rescue personnel.

A Fredericksburg man pleaded guilty today to lying on an ATF form in the course of straw-purchasing seven firearms for a convicted felon and criminal street gang member.

According to court documents, following the recovery of a firearm by the Metropolitan Police Department that had been purchased just one week prior, ATF agents reviewed firearm transaction records and determined that Chad Thomas Lamph, 22, had purchased that firearm and numerous others from federal firearms licensees in December of 2019.

An argument led to the arrest of a man who had multiple outstanding warrants.

Police were called to a home in the 8000 block of Ashland Avenue near Manassas on Friday, September 25 at 3:41 a.m., the Westgate Apartments. Officers arrived and found a man and a 29-year-old woman inside. The woman told police the man was stopping her from leaving the apartment, police said.

A woman is charged with assault and battery of a 7-month-old child that was in her care.

On September 14, Deputy R.T. Philippsen responded to an apartment in Stafford County for a report of child abuse. The parents of a 7-month-old infant had returned home and discovered a red mark on the side of the infant’s face. The parents reviewed video taken of their child’s nanny, who works inside of their home.

A Stafford County man is facing DUI charges after a traffic stop on Garrisonville Road.

At 1 a.m. today, a Stafford sheriff’s deputy stopped a car after it failed to move over. The deputy just returned to his marked sheriffs after conducting a traffic stop near Garrisonville and Shelton Shop roads in North Stafford. He was stopped on the side of the road with his emergency lights on.
