Three seats are up for grabs on the Dumfries Town Council on November 3, and Ebony Lofton, the current President of the South Cove Homeowners Association, is running a write-in campaign to win one.

CFH, Inc. a 41-year-old Northern Virginia nonprofit in Dumfries, has announced its plans for the 3rd Annual CFH 5k Run-Walk for Affordable Housing.

The 2020 CFH Help Pay the Rent Event, which will fund rental assistance and other programs that help seniors and families stay in their homes, will be a virtual 5k in which registrants can complete the course of their choosing any time from November 14-22.

Prince William County officials are still weighing their options when it comes to spending federal funds to put a homeless shelter in Dumfries.

County Supervisor Andrea Bailey, who represents the Potomac District which encompasses the town, asked the town’s Planning Commission to remove from its Sept. 14 agenda a request to amend the town’s zoning ordinance to allow homeless shelters in the town’s B1 zoning district. Bailey didn’t say why she made the request, and today she declined to comment for this story.

Prince William County leaders are moving forward with an effort to rename Jefferson Davis Highway.

The Board of County Supervisors on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, will hear details of a plan that would rename 12 miles of the four and six-lane highway, between Stafford and Fairfax county lines, Richmond Highway.
